Customs officials nab gold smuggling at IGI Airport
Two incidents of gold smuggling came to the attention of customs officials at Indira Gandhi International Airport who arrested the two allegedly accused people, reports say. The smuggling involved gold worth Rs 88 lakh, reports add.
One such incident involved a man on a flight returning from Dubai, who was intercepted by the officials. His baggage contained gold strips coated with a silver-coloured metal. The metal of 1.02kg was hidden in the transformer of a music system and was worth Rs 25.46 lakh, as per the customs officials, reports say.
The second incident involved a arrived in Delhi, from Mumbai. Customs seized golf worth 2.5kg to be worth around Rs 62.64 lakh from him, reports say. The yellow metal was hidden in the inner pocket of his trouser, reports say.
