Alrosa opens Eurasian Diamond Centre in Vladivostok
PJSC ALROSA announced the opening of Eurasian Diamond Centre in Vladivostok. The Eurasian Diamond Centre (EDC) assumes creating at the Free Port of Vladivostok of an infrastructure cluster that will unite diamond industry companies and will be aimed at export-import operations with Asia-Pacific countries, first of all China, India, Japan, and South Korea.
EDC will host diamond industry players (representatives of companies engaged in diamond mining and sale, manufacturers of polished diamonds and jewelry, gemological laboratories, banks, insurance companies, specialized carriers, customs brokers) and state representatives (a specialized customs post and state control experts). Creation of the cluster will be financed by investments from the companies seeking the placement of their manufacturing and service facilities on the territory of EDC.
“The project seems very promising, given the pace of development of Asia-Pacific countries and potential size of the market,” says ALROSA President Andrey Zharkov. “Preferences and privileges granted on the territory of Vladivostok can potentially contribute to the development of production plants that use gem-quality and industrial-grade rough diamonds both for cutting and manufacture of import-substituting tools with natural rough diamonds”.
The EDC opening ceremony was attended by the Presidential Plenipotentiary Envoy to the Far Eastern Federal District Yury Trutnev, and was held in the scope of the Second Eastern Economic Forum in Vladivostok.
